Isfahan children’s filmfest to go online over coronavirus spike

The 33rd Int’l Film Festival for Children and Youth in Isfahan is to be held online due to coronavirus outbreak.

The 33rd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth (ICFF) in Iran has scheduled to go online in October due to a spike in coronavirus cases in the country.

“This edition of the festival will be held in national and international sections, and the Farabi Cinema Foundation, Cinema Organization of Iran, and the Isfahan Municipality are the main organizers of the event,” Alireza Tabesh, the director of the festival said.

“We have had several sessions after the coronavirus outbreak in Iran ... discussing the possibility of holding a virtual festival; however, when we are talking about an online festival we do not intend to screen films online permanently,” he added.

Tabesh noted that the films will be screened at certain times and only those who have registered through the portal of the festival can watch the films online.

The official also said, “We have had several meetings with Iranian producers. We have also had meetings with several managers at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology who will be supporting the festival. Some of the events will be held live in Isfahan, while there are plans to hold virtual workshops.”

Established in 1982, the ICFF is an annual film festival held in the historic city of Isfahan, Iran.

A wide range of quality features, short and animation films from all around the world will be displayed at the event. Additionally, daily workshops, panels, and lectures by well-known Iranian and International cinematic figures are held at the event.
